A 43-year-old man missed his own wedding because he beat up his fiancee a day before their nuptials.
Christopher Kearns, was recalled to prison where he had previously been sentenced to over three years for the manslaughter of a father-of-two, reports Metro UK.
Kearns needed hospital treatment after taking an overdose following the assault before being sent back to jail.
It was learn that despite the attack, the couple were yet to break up as they still planned to get married, a court heard.
Speaking during the hearing, Prosecutor Alex Mann said: “The victim is his partner and has been for 12 months’ time. She says the defendant has bipolar disorder and has assistance in relation to that.
“She’s aware he has previous convictions which led to him entering prison when he didn’t receive support and the medication he was used to.
“When he was released he was struggling to cope.’
Kearns was given a conditional discharge and £15 surcharge cost and is due to be released in March, 2016.
