LAGOS, Nigeria – A 28-year-old woman was found dead in a room at Eagle Rock Garden and Suite, a hotel located at 102 Yale Okeowo Street, off Community Road in Ago Palace, Lagos.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, when an unidentified man, now a prime suspect in the investigation, checked into the hotel with the lady and left her alone in the room shortly after.

The man, who referred to himself as Kelvin as per the hotel receipt, left the premises after a brief stay, leaving his companion behind.

The following morning, hotel staff discovered the woman’s lifeless body.

A hotel employee, who wished to remain anonymous, recounted the events to journalists.

“A young man arrived at the hotel around 11 p.m. on Wednesday with his girlfriend, who appeared to be around 28 years old. After making a transfer payment of N9,000 for the lodging, he inquired about the hotel’s closing time, stating he intended to visit a club,” the staff member said.

“The man assured us he would return soon, as his girlfriend was still inside the room. The next morning, when we received no response after several attempts to contact the occupants of the room, we looked through the window and were alarmed to find a leg on the floor.”

The authorities were immediately alerted, leading to a grim discovery.

“Upon breaking open the door, a horrifying sight awaited us: a lifeless, unclothed body of a lady lying on the floor,” the staff member added.

Upon arrival at the Eagle Rock Garden and Suite, the establishment remained operational despite the tragic occurrence.

At the time of reporting, the presence of customers was notably sparse.

The Lagos State Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed awareness of the incident when contacted.

“I am aware of the incident, and an investigation is currently underway. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti,” SP Hundeyin stated.

He added, “Upon the arrival of the Ago Palace Police Division at the hotel, they discovered the lifeless body of a woman lying on the floor. It was observed that an inhaler used for catarrh was in her nose.”

As investigations continue, the public anxiously awaits the unraveling of the circumstances surrounding this unsettling event.
