The federal government may soon order the arrest of a number of prominent personalities in Zamfara State if the accusation leveled against them are found to be true of having a hand in the current killing of innocent people in the state.
This was disclosed on Friday, February 9, 2018, by Kabiru Garba Marafa, the senator representing Zamfara central at the upper chamber, in Gusau capital of the state.
He said he has been following the issue since the inception of the present administration under Abdulaziz Yari from 2011 to date, how people have been losing their lives innocently, and yet, the concerned authorities in the state folded their arms and deliberately allowed it to happen.
According to the senator, all the present leaders of the state particularly the Governor, are aware of what is happening and that they must have hand in it since it did not stop.
Addressing a crowd of party officials of the state who invited him to come home and explain to them why he is accusing governor Yari of the state of refusing to take any action with a view to addressing it, the Senator also stated that thousands of innocent people, including women and children of school age were allowed to vanish unnecessarily.
He said he has already submitted a list containing the names of those involved in the whole crime to Mr President. “I spoke to Mr President one-on-one with regard to what is happening in Zamfara, the indiscriminate killing of our people, and Mr President is currently and seriously working on it,” Marafa added.
Marafa also disclosed that president Buhari has assured him of taking all the necessary measures, and all the culprits will be punished accordingly.
The Senator who fearlessly said he has no regret in whatever he said against the leadership of the state on the floor of the senate, also condemned in totality, the behaviours of the governor of the state, who he said is only busy travelling while his house has always been on fire. “This man was not and still is not ready to bring to an end, the rampant elimination of the people of his state, the people that helped him to get to where he is today.”
He added that, “even at the state level, the governor works alone, while we, being the representatives of our people who elected us to serve them, and being the major stakeholders in anything pertaining to our state, we were never either consulted or called on any matter related to the well-being of the state.
Therefore, continued the Senator while speaking to newsmen, as representatives of their people, they must ensure that they protect and defend them at any cost no matter what one will say, adding, “Over 80% of the ungodly act is from my zone”, he lamented.
Speaking further Senator Kabiru explained that he was not happy “In fact I was shocked and ashamed of myself when sometimes ago, the Governor himself announced the purchase of new AK 47 rifles to be given to the people for self-defence, and unfortunately, the people have continuously been killed while the guns purchased for them were nowhere to be found”.
Commenting further Marafa challenged all the political leaders as well as traditional leaders across the state to dispute what he said, not only against the Governor, but even the traditional and religious leaders, and he will resign. I swear by the Holy Qur’an that if today anyone from my state can come out and say what I, Kabiru Marafa has said were not true, I ceased to be a Senator of this country.
