The annual Nigeria’s Armed Forces Remembrance day which is set aside to remember the nation’s war veterans took place today, Thursday January 15, 2015 with a special ceremony in the Federal Capital Territory.
President Goodluck Jonathan, Vice President Namadi Sambo, Senate president David Mark, and other dignitaries were present at the commemoration ceremony.
Equally, various states including Sokoto, Nasaraa, Lagos, and Abuja commemorated the day in significant ways according to Channels reports.
March pasts were conducted after which prominent Nigerians laid wreaths on the tombs of departed Nigerian soldiers.
Governor Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto state released pigeons in the air in remembrance of the fallen patriotic military personnel who died in service while combating the Boko Haram insurgents.
