Benue Governor Suswam Plans To Create 12 Extra LG’s

The governor of Benue state, Gabriel Suswam on Saturday, September 20, 2014 said that plans to create twelve extra local government councils in the state has been finalized.

He disclosed this in Vandeikya Local Government Area, at the opening ceremony of the state’s free medical services.

According to him, there will be an introduction of the seven-man committee set up for this purpose.

The governor said the creation of the extra local governments was a step towards boosting grassroots development.

He further indicated that the creation of additional 12 local government councils from the 23 existing ones would not be based on family lineage and development associations.

Suswam guaranteed that the new local government to be created would turn out a success as they were not the first state to do that.

Also, he explained that the free medical services was provided by his administration in a bid to maintaining good health in the state.

Speaking on the issue of the Ebola Virus that has plagued the nation, he stated that there has not been any case recorded in Benue and said that plans are in place by the government to curb the spread.

Suswam further disclosed that teachers in the state have been sensitized on the EBV by the state Ministry of Health.

In a NAN report, Dr Terver Tule, the executive secretary, Benue Hospitals Management Board said 81 people had benefited from free surgical operations, while many patients were treated for different ailments.
