The Yobe State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abuja on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 adjourned the case brought by Adamu Maina Waziri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against Governor Ibrahim Gaidam of the All Progressives Congress (APC) until Wednesday, October 21, 2015.
Waziri had alleged that Governor Gaidam, through his ADC, Zakari Zema paid the sum of N15 million into the Diamond Bank account of the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Abu Zarma.

The allegation has since been confirmed by the management of the bank and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (INEC).
In their defence the counsels to Governor Gaidam, Abeny Mohammed (SAN), Yusuf Ali (SAN) and Titus Ashaolu (SAN), said although an attempt was made by Zema to bribe the REC, the case should be dismissed because it failed to establish the allegations of electoral violence and fraud.
They also said that the tribunal lacked the powers to determine criminal allegations, adding that there was no evidence that the attempt to bribe the REC had any effect on the outcome of the election.
Justice Mojisola Dada will rule on the case on Wednesday, October 21, 2015.
