The Bayelsa State governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson, yesterday announced the sack of the state attorney-general (AG) and commissioner of justice, Barrister Francis Egele, and six other members of the state executive council in the state.
Other commissioners sacked include that of Trade, Investment and Industry, Hon. Ayakeme Massa; Health, Dr. Anapurere Michael Awoli; Tourism Development, Hon. Nelson Belief; Special Duties (Federal Projects), Hon. Gesiye Isowo; Science, Technology and Manpower, Hon. Parkinson Macmanuel, and Environment, Dr. Sylvanus Abila.
While the sack of the AG, Francis Egele, may have been due to the controversial legal action filed against the Economic and Financial Crime Commissioner (EFCC) over the alleged non-remittance of stolen fund seized from the former governor, D.S.P. Alamieyeseigha which put the state government and the Presidency in collision course, others were reportedly sacked for alleged shift in political loyalty and non-performance.
In the statement issued by the chief press secretary to the governor, Mr. Daniel Markson-Iworiso, the sack of the seven commissioners was due to the ongoing re-organisation of government ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) for a more optimal implementation of the Restoration agenda.
