The governor of Oyo State, Governor Abiola Ajimobi has on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 announced the reduction of the state’s ministries from 23 to 13.
The governor made this disclosure at the inauguration of the state’s 8th Assembly. He intimated that the decision was taken in order to restructure the various Ministries, Departments and Agencies for the best performance while also reducing the cost of governance.
Governor Ajimobi entreated the legislature for their cooperation and collaboration with the Executive to enable a conducive atmosphere for state building.
“Our desire to embark on the foregoing, among others, is borne out of our ardent desire to make life more abundant for the good people of Oyo State,” the governor is quoted as saying.
“Likewise, for the state to attain the desired global status that she deserves.’’
He said he admired the people of Oyo State for ”defying all known distractions to break the mythical or contrived yoke of 39 years of `’no governor ever secured a second term at Agodi Government House”.
He said his vision for the state was to make a place where everyone could be whatever they positively desired.He made reference to his first term in office as been used to redefine the art of governance in the state with catalogues of achievements to show.
He revealed that plans for his second term include widening the scope of infrastructural development, upgrading the Ibadan airport to a cargo airport and improving on state revenue generation.
