Princess Oluwatoyin Omosowon of Akungba Akoko kingdom, who was kidnapped in Akure, Ondo State on her way to Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) to deliver a lecture about two weeks ago has been released in Edo State.
According to sources in Ondo, the regent was set free after an undisclosed amount of money was paid to her abductors in an undisclosed location in Benin City, the Edo State capital on Tuesday, June 16, 2015.
A palace guard who wanted to remain anonymous said “I can confirm to you that our regent has been rescued. She was seen in the palace this morning. I heard she was brought to the palace by security agents”
The abductors had earlier released two of her aides. The abductors then proceeded to demand N20 million to be paid as ransom for her release on June 5, 2015 two days after her abduction.
