Maiduguri, the Borno State capital was on Monday, July 6, 2015 brought to a standstill as soldiers barricaded major roads in the state in preparation for the Army Day Celebration.
Spokesman of the 7 Division, Tukur Gusau, said in a statement that this year’s celebration, is focusing on the theme: “Equipping the Nigerian Army to Enhance Operational Efficiency in Combating Threats to National Security”.
Reports from Premium Times have it that the celebration which started on Friday, July 3, 2015 with prayers in the mosque would end on Monday wih the chief of army staff, Lieutenant general Kenneth Minima paying courtesy visit to the governor of Borno state Kashim Shettima and the Shehu of Borno state HRH Dr ABubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Elkanemi.
Minima is also expected to decorate soldiers who have been at the fore-front in the battle against insurgency with medal of honours.
