Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau State on Thursday, March 26, 2015 advised Northerners to disregard the candidacy of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential flagbearer, General Muhammadu Buhari, urging them to throw their weight behind President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) so he can complete his tenure, before the North takes over in 2019.
Speaking at a town hall meeting in Pankshin and Mangu Local Government Area of the State, Governor Jang said General Buhari lacked the credentials to represent the North, as he had failed as a military Head of State and would do the same as a civilian president.
He said: “If Buhari did not perform as military head of state, he will not do anything as a civilian president.
“We need a president that will consolidate on the improvement so far recorded in the power sector, we have the trains moving today and the corruption that has been so much in the agriculture sector has been tackled; farmers now get fertilizer without hitches. So, the North should be patient and allow President Jonathan to finish his second tenure so that it can take over in 2019.”
