With an impressive performance at the FIFA World Cup in Brazil, the Iranian team could not secure a place in the second round, to make matters worse, the local police arrested 3 football fans for supporting their national team.
Two 23-year olds and a 26-year-old photographer, according to the Associated Press were picked up by the police for appearing in a fun video made in support of the team by a London-based Ajam band.
The video was tagged by police as vulgar due to the fact that the women who appeared in the clip were not wearing hijabs and were dancing with men.
Also in May, 2014 six Iranian youths were arrested for singing and dancing to US singer Pharrell Williams’ “Happy” in a video that was posted online and went viral on social media.
