Fulani Herdsmen Kill Traditional Ruler, 30 Others In Taraba

A traditional ruler from Ibi in Taraba State, whose name was given as Zaki Joseph Manger, along with 30 others have been killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

The latest killing spree was made public by James Nungwa, the President of the Tiv Cultural and Social Association (TCSA), who revealed that similar killings had occurred since the return of former Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs)

According to Nigerian Pilot, which obtained a statement from Nungwa on Sunday, September 20, 2015, the recent spate of killings was an attempt to thwart the peace process of the Governor Darius Ishaku-led administration.

Nungwa also availed that more than 15 people were killed in Donga local government while about 18 others were killed in Ibi Local Government Area.

The statement read in parts: “Four women around Ananum were raped in their houses by suspected Fulani armed men.

“In their usual destructive tendencies, they destroyed over 300 hectares of farms and burnt 100 reconstructed houses of the returnees.

“The barbaric act being perpetrated by these unpatriotic and retrogressive elements”
