It is no longer news that Chelsea once again faltered on Saturday as they fell to a 1-3 defeat at Goodison Park. A hat-trick from Steven Naismith condemned Jose Mourinho’s team to yet another defeat this season as Everton took all three-points.
It has now emerged that Everton Manager, Roberto Martinez was subject of a verbal outburst from his opposite number, Jose Mourinho after the game.
The Portuguese manager was angry that Martinez had flouted the unwritten custom of premier league managers which allow their away counterparts to go in first for the post-match conference so that they can leave the stadium.
While talking to the press near the pitch, Mourinho walked up to Martinez and said:
“Roberto, next time tell me to go before you because we have to travel.”
Martinez retorted: “We don’t control that Jose, I don’t control that.”
Mourinho’s next response was that of anger and irritation. “Fucking hell,” the two-time Champions League winner said.
Everton’s Spaniard manager was bent on mocking the Chelsea boss as he stated: “When he beat us 6-3 (last season) he was such a nice man. I prefer him like that!”
Mourinho and Martinez disagreed all summer over the then proposed transfer of Everton’s John Stones to Chelsea; a move which never became a reality as Everton refused to let the highly-rated defender go.
