NAN – The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Osun on Wednesday said it issued 1,043 driver’s licences in the state in December.

The FRSC Sector Commander, Mr Muhammad Husaini, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Osogbo.

Husaini said that the figure comprises of new applicants and renewal for the new driver’s licence by motorists.

He charged motorists not to patronise touts or middlemen in processing or procuring their driver’s licences, but walk into the commission.

He said, “Information on the new driver’s licence are uploaded into the FRSC database and it is only licences issues by the commission that are certified authentic.

“Any driver’s licence procured without the bearer going to the commission’s office for physical image capturing and provision of bio data is not authentic.

“Anybody using a driver’s licence procured through payment to a middle man without making a physical appearance at the commission’s registration and capturing office is using a fake driver’s license.”

Husaini said there were procedures to follow in procuring driver’s licence and upgrading old ones.

The sector commander warned motorists not to patronise any middleman or touts in procuring their driver’s licence.

He said that the commission had not authorised anybody to act on its behalf, and warned that anybody caught using a fake driver’s licence on the road would be apprehended.
