The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC has vowed that four of the nation’s refineries will commence production from July.
This was disclosed by Ohi Ategbe, NNPC’s Group General Manager, Public Affairs, on Thursday, June 18, 2015.
The Federal Government had in 2012, under President Goodluck Jonathan signed contracts for turn-around-maintenance of the country’s refineries. The contracts were signed with the original builders of the refineries.
He said, “The refineries at Warri, Port Harcourt and Kaduna will resume next month after a successful turn-around-maintenance of their facilities.
“The turn-around-maintenance has been on for some time.
“We did not just want to make any noise about it.
“The refineries will start production as soon as they have delivery of crude oil for refining.”
Nigeria boasts of four crude oil refineries managed by the NNPC, which has two in Port harcourt, two others in Warri.
The four refineries combined have an installation capacity of 445,000 barrels daily.
