Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, and former Vice President, reacted to the his alleged dictatorial and undemocratic conducts of President Muhammadu Buhari, saying that they have fought more ruthless leaders than him in the past.
Atiku who said he has been saying it for a long time that General Buhari is not a democrat, reminded of the recent undemocratic removal of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Chief Walter Onnoghen by the President.
He described Buhari as more of a power monger than a democrat and informed that our hard earned democracy is today under threat.
The Turaki Adamawa also alleged he has it in good authority that the All Progressives Congress technical team sent to China are back to the country with a garget akin to phone which will be used to manipulate the election.
According to him, the gadget which has the capacity to increase or reduce the speed of the card reader will be used to slow the card in areas of stronghold of the People’s Democratic Party and and increase its speed in the areas of stronghold of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to rig the election for the ruling party.
He therefore called on Nigerians to be vigilant and watch out for such devices during the Saturday’s voting process.
He also called on the Nigerian Army not to interfere in the election as the military has no role in election which he said is a civil activity and civil duty.
Atiku made the clarification on Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at the 84th PDP’s National Executive Council, NEC, meeting held at the party’s headquarters in Abuja.
NAN recall that President Muhammadu Buhari had on Monday while reacting to the postponement of the election by INEC said he has directed the Army and police to deal ruthlessly with anyone who would attempt to snatch the ballot box and for such person to be ready to pay with his blood.
Earlier, the national Chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus has reminded that his party is not in support of snatching of ballot boxes but however condemned the utterance of the president which he said negated all known principle of democracy.
Atiku Abubakar also called on Nigerians to come out en masse to vote the candidate of their choice and not deterred by the postponement as it was a ploy by the ruling APC to discourage them from coming out again to vote.
