SAD: Former Kwara LG Chairman Slumps And Dies

Family and friends of Alhaji Kareem Adewumi are in schock and pains as he slumped and died Thursday, September 24, 2014 in his house along Ilofa-Omu-Aran road, Kwara state.

After slumping, he was taken to the Omu-Aran General Hospital but it seemed to have been too late as a doctor confirmed him already dead.

Adewumi was between 2003 and 2006 the chairman of Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

One of his uncles, Mr. Dayo Adewumi in a statement expressed shock over the death of late Adewumi who according to him appeared well and never exhibited any symptom of sickness until his death.

He said,  “This is shocking and unbelievable. We were together since morning and he even drove his wife to the shop without showing any sign of imminent death.

He added that they discovered he was having difficulty in breathin and slumped almost immediately. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital and after some diagnosis, the doctors disclosed that he had died.

Also speaking was the current chairman of Irepodun Local Government Council, Alhaji Luqman Owolewa. According to him, Adewumi’s death was  a great and irreparable loss to the people of the LG and the state at large. He also attested to the fact that his administration during his tenure as the local council chairman achieved a lot of things in this state which till date stands as memorial. Adding that the people were still enjoying the benefits of such achievements which makes it almost impossible for him to be forgotten in a jiffy.

The Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba Charles Ibitoye, also described Adewumi’s death as a great loss of an icon.
