ADO EKITI, Nigeria – In a somber announcement, the family of Bidemi Aluko-Olaseni, a former goalkeeper for the Nigerian Falconets, confirmed her passing on Friday, March 1, 2024 at Ijurin Ekiti, in the Ijero Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
Her brother, Aanu Albert Aluko, conveyed the news on behalf of the family on Saturday, revealing that Bidemi had courageously battled cancer for eight years before her peaceful departure.
Throughout her illustrious career, Bidemi Aluko-Olaseni distinguished herself in the field of soccer, having played for notable teams including the Falconets, Rivers Angels, Ekiti Babes, Sunshine Queens, Olgar Queens, FCT Babes, and Makbet Queens.
Her dedication and skill as a goalkeeper earned her respect and admiration from teammates, fans, and the sports community at large.
The Aluko family expressed their profound gratitude towards the friends, fans, and well-wishers who supported Bidemi through her prolonged health struggle. “We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone for their unwavering support throughout her illness,” Aanu Albert Aluko stated in a message obtained by journalists.

She leaves behind her husband, siblings, and elderly parents who mourn her loss.
