Former Governor Abia State Governor, Orji Uzor Kalu, who contested to represent the Abia North Senatorial District on the platform of the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA), lost the election to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Mao Ohuabunwa.
According to the results made available by the Public Relations Officer of INEC in Abia State, Edwin Inabor, Kalu came third, polling 27, 002 votes, with Ohuabunwa garnering 40,027. Coming a distant second was David Ogba of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) who won 28,055 votes.
In a related development, the PDP won all the Federal House of Representatives seats in the state, except in Aba North and South federal constituencies, where APGA won.
