BUENOS AIRES, Argentina – Nigeria’s U-20 football team, the Flying Eagles, have secured their place in the quarterfinals of the FIFA U-20 World Cup, following a convincing 2-0 win over tournament hosts, Argentina.
In a match that was keenly contested, goals from Ibrahim Muhammad and Rilwanu Sarki ensured that the Nigerian side moved on to the next round and consequently sent Argentina, a record six-time U-20 world champions, out of the championship.
Ibrahim Muhammad broke the deadlock in the 61st minute of the game, giving the Flying Eagles the lead. Rilwanu Sarki then confirmed Nigeria’s dominance with a second goal in the first minute of added time.
