5 Killed As Cult Groups Clash In Edo

BENIN – A renewed war between rival cult groups in the past two weeks, has reportedly left at least five persons dead.

A 500-level Computer Science student of the Ambrose Alli University, AAU, Ekpoma, identified as Osagie Osamudiamen, was said to have been shot at close range in a popular hotel in the university town of Ekpoma.

It was learnt that Osamudiamen was  leader of one of the cult groups in the school. He was trailed by members of a rival cult group to a hidden location where he was caught and executed.

In the same vein, a musician simply identified as Jonathan was killed on Thursday, February 27, 2014,  in front of a hotel opposite the popular Ekiosa market, near Third Junction in Benin City.

In what may be a reprisal attack in reaction to Osamudiamen’s execution, three other persons yet to be identified were reportedly found dead around St Saviour area, near Niger College in Upper Sakpoba road and New Benin area.

The Edo State Police Commissioner allegedly vowed to fish out the perpetrators after investigations have been carried out.
