Uruguay striker Luis Suarez was yesterday, June 26, 2014 handed a heavy penalty for biting an Italian defender during a World Cup match in Brazil.
Suarez, in a heated encounter, bit the shoulder of Italian defender in a deciding match during the tournament. FIFA slammed him with a four month ban and a 66,ooo fine which effectively puts him out of the World Cup. The gifted but troubled striker is also banned from football stadia during the ban.
The first snapshots of Suarez have emerged and they are published along side fan reactions of the strange field behaviour. Italian fans have taken to mocking the footballer who plays for Liverpool by making suggestive poses at advert posters featuring Suarez.
The player looked dejected and worried as he was sighted at his team’s hotel. Uruguay’s Football Association maintains that Suarez is innocent and the photos of the bite marks are photoshopped and they say, they would be appealing FIFA’s decision.
