OSUN – The National Control Centre of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria in Osogbo has been razed by a fire that started in the early hours of today, March 7, 2014.
It was gathered that the fire started around 3am. and raged till around 9am, when it was finally contained by fire fighters.
Members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, soldiers and staff of the Federal Road Safety Commission were reportedly on ground controlling vehicular and human traffic at the incident location.
It is feared that the fire incident, which allegedly affected a transformer, will worsen the already epileptic power supply in the country. many areas within the state have already been thrown into darkness.
The NCC, Osogbo, is one of the transmission centres for the distribution of generated electricity in the country.
