Must read

There was a fire outbreak in the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Makurdi branch in Benue State.

The fire started at about 7 am on Thursday. The intervention of men of the Fire Service saved further spread to the entire building.

Sources at the bank said the fire started from the fuel dome of the building but did not affect other sections, blaming the cause on a technical fault.

The incident, however, caused a stir in the bank located at the Old GRA opposite the United Bank of Africa, UBA, in Makurdi.

A section of the CBN office in Makurdi, Benue State, was engulfed by fire on April 21, 2022.

But, at the time of this report, calm had been restored as people within and outside the premises were seen going about their normal businesses.

Contacted, the Director of Benue State Fire Service, Engr. Donald Ikyaaza, confirmed the incident, saying that he received a call informing him about the fire and he immediately drafted his men to the scene.

“It was actually a huge fire which started at the company’s fuel dome but my men rushed to the scene and put out the fire before it could spread to other parts of the bank. Everywhere is calm now,” Ikyaaza said.
