Six officials working for the Fédération Internationale de Football Association, FIFA, have been arraigned in Zurich, Switzerland over allegations of bribery amounting to a huge sum of $100 million (£65 million).
This arrests, over allegations of corruption and bribery which dated back to the 1990s included the Vice President of FIFA, Jeffrey Webb.
The Swiss Federal Office of Justice disclosed that the individuals arraigned were suspected of criminal management and money laundering in connection with the bids to host the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.
It was also confirmed that some electronic data and documents were recovered from FIFA’s headquarters in Zurich by prosecutors.
