Must read

NAN –  The Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo, said that the Federal Government was considering fast-tracking power generation through embedded power.

This is contained in a statement signed in Abuja by Mr Timothy Oyedeji, Deputy Director, Press, Federal Ministry of Power.

It said that with this, less emphasis would be on the national grid for supply to small cluster of end users and industries located in the same area.

According to the statement, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is considering an intervention similar to the carbon credit scheme already developed in some countries.

The statement noted that currently, nothing was on ground as a form of incentive to those interested in embedded power generation.

It said that government was desirous of encouraging companies with excess power that could be used as embedded generation.

The statement further denounced the unpatriotic acts of pipeline vandals, describing their actions as pure sabotage.

“These people seem to be against progress of their country; by the way they operate, it is clear that they are sophisticated and have clear understanding of the terrain.

“Whenever we finish repair works, the vandals will strike immediately afterwards,”he said.

It said that government was now set to use digital system to counter pipeline vandalism, adding that it was collaborating with all security agencies in the years ahead in tackling these criminals.
