The Federal Government has declared Monday, May 2, 2016, public holiday to commemorate the 2016 Workers’ Day Celebration.
This was announced by the Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (retd.), on Thursday, April 28, 2016.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Bassey Akpanyung, congratulated Nigerians for what he described as “their resilience, hard work and commitment to the change mantra of President Muhammadu Buhari, despite current challenges.”
Originally, the workers day celebration is billed for May 1 annually, however, the 2016 edition fell on a weekend, hence the declaration of Monday public holiday.
