Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State, Umana Okon Umana has towed the steps of Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola (also of the APC), stating that the business of governance was not for the elderly, saying political office was for “vibrant youths, not grandfathers.”

He made statement in Uyo while presenting his 52-year old running mate, Ben Ukpong to a crowd of his supporters, with many believing the it was made to ridicule Moses Ekpo, the 77-year old running mate of the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate, Udom Emmanuel.
The statement has received widespread tongue-lashing, firstly because the APC is fielding a 72-year old presidential candidate – Muhammadu Buhari – and also because Ukpong, who Umana described as a vibrant youth can not be termed as such – at 52!
