The PDP-led government in Abia has described as a set up by an opposition political party in the state, the video which purported that an agent of the state government was arrested with fake election results.
In a statement by the Commissioner for Information, John Okiyi Kalu, on Sunday, February 17, 2019, the state government explained that the N-Power volunteer identified as Felix Kennedy Obisike, who works with the state focal person for the Federal Government Social Investment Programme, Mr. Chinenye Nwaogu, was tricked to the campaign building of the APC where he was tortured by the party’s thugs.
Kalu alleged that the thugs went to the volunteer’s car without him and took an official file belonging to his boss, Chinenye, which he was supposed to deliver in Aba same day and “planted the fake result sheet inside the file.”
The commissioner said when the focal person, Nwogu, got wind of the incident, he contacted the Department of State Services, DSS, to move in and rescue Citizen Felix, who was struggling for his life as a result of the beatings.
Narrating the source of the attack, he said Nwogu had sent text messages to N-Power volunteers in the state not to attend a meeting they were called at the APC campaign office after he verified from the Special Adviser to the President on Social Investment Programme, Maryam Uwais, that the message, which was purportedly sent from her office, did not emanate from her.
Wondering why nobody in the campaign office had been arrested or invited for questioning following the incident, Kalu said the state government was demanding “full investigation into the abduction of Citizen Felix Kennedy Obisike and that those involved in this dastardly act be punished according to the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
According to him, “Elementary review of the published purported INEC result sheet shows that the entries were typed out as against the usual practice of writing out results in long hand, with ink. Only a candidate who has never contested general elections before will attempt to pass off such a poor forgery as INEC result sheet,” he added.
