President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered an investigation into the activities of Ibrahim Lamorde, Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), a source in the office of the National Security Adviser’s office tells Vanguard.
The investigation, according to the report, is based on “sundry allegations of acts incompatible with leadership of the anti crime agency”.
The probe is being carried out, covertly, by a joint team made up of officials from the National Intelligence Agency and Nigeria’s Secret Police, the Department of State Security Services (DSS).
According to a source, Buhari ordered this investigation shortly after he assumed office as President and it was ordered before the widely publicized petition by George Uboh accusing Lamorde of fraud in relations to appropriation of over N1 trillion recovered or seized by the EFCC.
