Explosion Rocks Polling Unit In Awka, Anambra

An explosion has on Saturday, March 28, 2015 rocked a polling unit located at Amaenyi Primary school in Awka, Anambra State.

Sources disclosed that the incident occurred around 7.25am moments before accreditation commenced.

An eye witness, Mr.Isaac Nwosu stated that class room blocks were demolished following the explosion leading to a disruption in the exercise.

The anti-bomb squad were seen making frantic efforts to quell the situation while the INEC officials commenced accreditation thereafter.

Security officials also stormed the area.

Meanwhile eligible voters in Anambra State have lamented the non functioning of the card reading machines.

A source, Chioma Nnadi exclusively told The Trent that the INEC card reader machines failed to work at most polling units in the Nnewi axis of the state.

Although the machines reportedly started working at about 2.15pm.

Nevertheless, most polling units in Enugwu Ukwu ,Nri, Agulu and Aguluzigbo in Anaocha council area had similar problems.
