Former governor of Ogun state, Gbenga Daniel was on Monday, October 6, 2014 barred from gaining access to the Abeokuta residence of erstwhile president, Olusegun Obasanjo by security operatives, Vanguard reports
According to the report, Daniel who is touted as seemingly close to publicly declaring his return to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), visited Obasanjo to seek the blessing and forgiveness of the ex-president, with whom he had an alleged power tussle with, prompting him (Daniel) to declare that he will never return to the PDP, although recent events have suggested otherwise as he claims to want to work for the re-election of incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan.
An anonymous source availed that Daniel sat at the back of a vehicle which was driven by the former minister of mines and steel, Sarafa Ishola.
“Ishola who drove the vehicle, who was earlier granted entry, was also turned back when his trick was uncovered.
“The incident occurred at about 10.30 am and it reportedly left the embattled former governor humiliated and traumatised”, the source said.
Attempts to contact Daniel or his aides proved abortive as they could not be easily accessed.
