TERRIBLE: Woman Strangles Her Day-Old Baby To Avoid Maternal Responsibility (PICTURED)

A 25-year-old woman identified as Ugochukwu Otu, has killed her biological one-day old baby girl shortly after she was discharged from a maternity home in Enohia Nkalu Afikpo North Local Government Area, Ebonyi State.

The abominable act was reportedly committed on Monday, December 22, 2014 by the woman who wanted to be free to live her life without bothering herself on how to take care of a baby.

According to Sun, after killing the baby, she put her dead body in a black polyethylene bag and dumped it in a bush near Ndibe beach road in her area.

The Ebonyi State Police Commissioner, Maigari Dikko, said that nemesis caught up with her when neighbours began asking her about the baby.

Otu who could not keep the secret further confessed her abominable act before leading the people to where she dumped the baby’s body.

It was after the confession tha some really angry youths in the area went to report the incident to a police station nearby which consequently led to her arrest.

The woman who spoke to journalists at the headquarters of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Ebonyi State Police Command said she killed her baby intentionally so she would be free.

“I killed my one-day old baby girl intentionally because I don’t have N500 for her medical treatment. I want to be free lady. I didn’t have any intention to get pregnant.

“I was impregnated by one man called Monday, a native of Ozizza Afikpo North LGA. But later he refused to accept the pregnancy and I didn’t plan for it. I am not ready to marry; I want to be a free lady.

“I had to strangle the baby girl and put the corpse in a black poly­thene bag and dumped it along Ndibe beach road, near the bush. I don’t regret killing my baby because nobody was responsible for her upkeep.”

The Assistant Commissioner of Police in-charge of SCID, Mrs. Augustina Ogbodo disclosed that the command had recovered the remains of the baby and would soon charge the woman to court for committing such heinous act.
