The Federal Neuropsychiatry Hospital, Enugu has placed a male nurse, Alozie Ejimadu on three months interdiction for allegedly injecting a patient and supporter of President Goodluck Jonathan with powerful sleeping drugs during the March 28,2015 election, Daily Post reports.
Ejimadu, after injecting the patient, took to his Facebook wall and boasted that the patient would sleep till the result was announced.
He posted: “The announcement of the presidential election has reached a crescendo, a patient cried, saying she is unhappy because Jona lost. I didn’t hesitate to silence her with injection paraldehyde 10ml stat; chlorpromazine 150mg and IV diazepam 20mg stat.
“This will keep her sleeping till tomorrow when the final result is announced. Anybody who dare thinks like my patient will certainly receive a double dose (ARA GBAKA KWA NDI ARA AHU- those mad people should get mad the more)”.

It was gathered that a non-governmental organisation, Centre for the Right of Psychiatric Patient, irked by the post, petitioned the board chairman of the hospital.
“Mr. Alozie’s activity is unbecoming of a psychiatric nurse. We demand the hospital to remove him from the clinical area; suspend him to identify the patient and assess possible damage,” the petition read.
It was gathered that following the petition, the head of clinical services, in a letter dated May 7, sent Ejimadu packing.
The letter, signed by Dr. Iteke O.C read: “I am directed by the Medical Director to interdict you for three months on half-salary starting April 2015.
“You should stay away from clinical duties pending investigation by the Nursing Council of Nigeria on your internet posting of March 30 where you claimed to have silenced a patient with diazepam, paraldehyde and chlorpromazine”.
The nurse however insists that his post was not real but an “imagination”.
He posted on Facebook on Friday, May 8, 2015:
“I Comrade Ejimadu Alozie wish to state ones again that what was written on the 30th of March, 2015 is fiction and imagination of mine.I wish you see it as one of those creative intuition. Thanks for your understanding. I love you all..”
