Mr. Mathew Ologbon, a prosecutor of the Kwara State Police Command, testified before an Ilorin Magistrate Court of how a female National Youth Service Corps member was raped to death by gang members.
Mr. Ologbon told the court presided over by Mr. K.A. Yahya that the victim, Miss Yetunde Idowu was gang raped by a 51 year old man identified as Abdullahi Tanko and members of his gang.
According to reports, the victim’s body was found in GRA in Ilorin, Kwara State. The prosecutor’s testimony stated that on May 23, 2015, the victim, Miss Idowu, had been found at about 12:00pm in a pool of her own blood by Kwara State police.
As investigations unfolded, it was discovered that Tanko and his cohorts had tricked Idowu away from her residence to Fate road where they proceeded to rape her to death inside their car.
Mr. Ologbon said, “After they had raped Idowu, they carried her dead body to a nearby junction. The police located Tanko’s house through the blood traces of the deceased and the suspected killer was arrested.
“The mobile phone of the deceased was found with Tanko.”
The presiding Magistrate, Yahaya, ordered that Tanko be remanded in prison, while the case was adjourned till August 10, 2015 although Tanko’s cohorts are still at large.
