Chelsea suffered their fifth league defeat of the 2015/2016 season when they lost 1-2 to West Ham at Upton Park on Saturday, October 24, 2015.
West Ham took the lead in the 17th minute through Argentine Mauro Zarate.
As most games played by Chelsea, the match had its own share of controversies. In the 35th minute, Kurt Zouma’s header which appeared to cross the goal line was ruled out by goal line technology which suggested that part of the ball was still on the line.
Chelsea’s Serbian midfielder Nemanja Matic got sent off in the 44th minute for a second bookable offense as events got worse for the visitors.
Chelsea’s first team coach, Silvino Louro also got sent off after protesting angrily over Matic’s dismissal.
The drama was far from over as under-pressure Chelsea boss, Jose Mourinho was also sent to the stands at half time for approaching the referee in the dugout.
The visitors managed an equalizer in the 56th minute through Gary Cahill but the day was destined to be bad for them as susbstitute Andy Carroll headed in Aaron Cresswell’s cross with 10 minutes left.
The question many people are now asking is: “Will Mourinho be in charge at Chelsea by Christmas”?
