Emirates Extends Suspension Of Flights To Nigeria

Must read

Dubai-based airline Emirates has extended the suspension on flights to and from Nigeria until at least August 15.

This was revealed in a travel update posted on the airline’s website on Wednesday, August 4, 2021.

In the statement captioned ‘Suspension of flights to/from Nigeria until 15 August 2021’, the airline said that the extension is in line with government directives that restrict the entry of travellers originating from Nigeria into the UAE.

The United Arab Emirates, UAE, had on Tuesday said it will lift the ban on transit flights from Nigeria, India, and Pakistan on Thursday.

The National Emergency and Crisis Management Authority, NCEMA, stated this on Tuesday in a post via their Twitter handle.

NCEMA said that passengers travelling from countries where flights had been banned would be able to transit through its airports from August 5 [Thursday] as long as they present a negative PCR COVID-19 test taken 72 hours prior to departure.

But Emirates in a statement on Wednesday said, “Emirates’ flights to and from Nigeria will remain suspended until 15 August 2021, in line with government directives that restrict the entry of travellers originating from Nigeria into the UAE.

“Customers who have been to or connected through Nigeria in the last 14 days will not be permitted on any Emirates flights bound for Dubai.

“Affected flight bookings have been cancelled.”
