Chris Ngige, the minister of labour and productivity on Thursday, May 18, 2016, said that the federal government will jail any union member that embarks on industrial action without prior notice to the government.
Ngige said the law stipulates N100,000 fine or six months jail term for violators.
He made the statement after the federal executive council meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, May 18, 2016.
According to him, for any strike action to be legal, the union must give 15 day notice to the government, failure to do so, he said the union leaders will be liable to six months jail term or N100,000 fine.
He said the current action of the labour leaders is violating the provision of the law, noting that the present administration is a change and everybody must be brought on board through peaceful and orderly process.
