Must read

Oyo State government on Thursday, December 9, 2021, warned teachers in the state against embarking on any protest.

The government while condemning a planned protest against it by some teachers, warned that any teacher who embarks on protest would be dealt with.

The teachers said they were planning to protest over the alleged non-payment of leave bonuses by the state government.

But, the state government said it has paid leave bonuses to all the teachers, warning the teachers against the planned protest.

Nureni Adeniran, the executive chairman, Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, who reacted on behalf of the state government, said no teacher in the state was being owed the year 2020 leave bonus.

He described such planned protest as the handiwork of some enemies of the present government.

Adeniran said, “Some political emissaries are going about, telling people that the government is owing them 2020 annual leave arrears and that the government is not taking it seriously. But this is not true. It is incorrect.

“No primary school teacher is owed monthly salary, or leave bonus today. The government has paid their dues.”

Adeniran, while speaking admonished the teachers to show gratitude to Governor Seyi Makinde.

“Those intending to protest were rented protesters by enemies of the government to misinform the public, who would be dealt with within the full extent of the law when caught.”
