Elections: House Of Reps Defers Debate On Deployment Of Soldiers

Must read

The Federal House of Representatives on Thursday, February 19, 2015 postponed debates on the legality of deploying soldiers to provide security in the course of the forthcoming general election.

House Minority Leader, Femi Gbajabiamila had moved a motion seeking to bar the Federal Government from deploying troops during the election.

Speaker of the House, Aminu Tambuwal said the issue should be treated with caution as it was highly sensitive.

He therefore directed the Chairmen of the House committees on rules and business, and justice and judiciary to advice him on the issue.
