The Osun State election petitions tribunal on Friday, February 6, 2015 upheld the emergence of Rauf Aregbesola as the governor of Osun State in the Saturday, August 9, 2014 gubernatorial elections.
Governor Aregbesola, who contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was said to have scored the highest number of votes, amassing a total of 392, 284 votes as against the 292, 742 votes polled by his nearest rival, Iyiola Omisore of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Justice Elizabeth Ipejime ruled on the petition after Senator Omisore protested the result of the elections claiming electoral irregularities.
