The Taraba State governorship election petitions tribunal sitting Abuja on Saturday, November 7, 2015 has nullified the election of Governor Darius Ishaku of the People’s Democratic Party and declared the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate, Senator Aisha Jumai Alhassan winner of the April 11 election.
The tribunal in its judgement sacked the incumbent governor, a former minister of state for Niger Delta, saying he was not duly nominated by his political party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The tribunal was chaired by Justice Musa Danladi Abubakar.
Alhassan was named as a minister by President Muhammadu Buhari and cleared by the Senate last month. She is one of those awaiting swearing-in and assignment of portfolio.
