The Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro has described allegations by the All Progressives Congress (APC) against his person in connection with the forthcoming Saturday, June 21 2014 Ekiti gubernatorial elections as symptomatic of the APC’s frustration over an impending defeat by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Ekiti polls.
Obanikoro in a statement on Thursday by his Special Assistant on Media and Strategy, Ohimai Amaize said it was not surprising that the APC has once again resorted to character assassination and cheap sleaze rather than focus on issues-based politics.
“The allegations against Senator Obanikoro on Wednesday in Abuja by the APC, through its newly selected Chairman, Chief Odigie Oyegun are not only callous and utterly disingenuous but clearly the desperate antics of a drowning man clutching at dry straws.
“Chief Odigie has his hands full struggling to steer the ship of a disoriented, disorganized and sinking APC. He should concentrate on fixing the mess that the APC has become and desist from allowing his name to be dragged in the mud by desperate politicians who consider Obanikoro the nemesis of the APC in the South-West”, the statement said.
Senator Obanikoro noted that “it has become public knowledge that the APC is fixated on anythingObanikoro. But using the name of Obanikoro to advance a post-election narrative for the impending failure of the APC in the Ekiti gubernatorial elections is a very poor strategy lacking in truth, honour and decency.”
Senator Obanikoro finally warned the APC to perish the thought that he can be intimidated by silly political ploys.
