This was as a result of speculations that plans were in the offing to remove the speaker after about six members of the All Progressives Congress, APC-dominated Assembly had moved to ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP during the inauguration of the new governor on Thursday , October 16, 2014.
The speaker had released a statement afterwards accusing some members of the Assembly of plotting to remove him and enthrone a new speaker from their party.
It was after these series of events that the speaker declared a month’s recess,with claims that it was due to the transfer of leadership in the state.
Following the suspension, the House would begin sitting on Tesday, October 21, 2014, at the state House of Assembly in preparation for the screening of Special Advisers and Commissioners to be appointed by Governor Ayodele Fayose, National Mirror reports.
The media adviser of the Ekiti Speaker, Mr Wole Olujobi, Omirin said the step was in overriding public interest, adding that all the 26 members of the House of Assembly have been intimated about the change in plans.
He assured hitch free sittings to fault rumours that the house of assembly will be jam-packed during the sessions.
