ABUJA, Nigeria – A tragic incident has shaken the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and the wider community in Abuja, as one of its operatives committed suicide on Monday, July 1, 2024.
According to sources from PRNigeria, the deceased, a member of Course 5, was known for his diligence, efficiency, and unassuming nature.
The EFCC is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the operative’s death. The Commission is considering various factors, including mental health issues and family challenges, which may have contributed to his depression and subsequent suicide.
When contacted for comments, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale confirmed that an investigation is underway.
“We are currently conducting a thorough investigation to understand the factors that led to this tragic event,” Mr Oyewale told The Trent.
The EFCC has chosen not to release the operative’s name until the investigation is complete.
