The registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, Ishaq Oloyede has called on the Nigerian government to act fast in taming the menace of cyber attacks in the nation’s education sector.
The registrar stated this on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at the Multi-Stakeholders Sensitisation Workshop on the Implementation of Nigeria’s National Cybersecurity Strategy held in Abuja.
According to him, there are a lot of sensitive materials in the education sector that fraudsters are interested in.
He expressed worry that many educational institutions had not taken steps to curtail cyber attacks on their data probably because of a lack of awareness.
Oloyede, however, called on all security agencies to synergise in the fight against cybercrime.
He said; “That is why we think it is time for all of us to realise the danger of not adequately protecting our cyberspace.
‘The education sector must rise now and collaborate with the security agencies because the threat is real.”
