A Sri Lanka-based Nigerian, Adeyemi Adeseye, has debunked rumours that his wedding ceremony was cancelled because of the country’s ban on people coming from countries infested with the Ebola virus.
Sunday Punch reports that his brother Akinkunmi revealed to them that Adeseye realized that some newspapers erroneously made the reports after they solely reported that members of his family, who had flown into the country to attend his wedding, were turned back at the airport.
A part of Adeseye’s write up stated, “I am writing as regards write-ups in popular newspapers and websites in Nigeria and Sri Lanka.“This is just to clarify that the ceremony held and I was allowed into the country, as it has caused so much tension and unrest in Sri Lanka.
“These complaints were made by people, who I believe are well-wishers and definitely not by me. The information published therein is thus not completely true. I travelled to Sri Lanka on August 12 and was able to get into Sri Lanka on August 16 for my legal marriage.”
However, he revealed that on August 23, 2014, some members of his family were denied entrance into the country after their arrival for the wedding.
While expressing his feelings he added, “I thank God the ceremony held as planned, but I was there with the emotional stress of my family not being there with me.”
