Adams Oshiomhole, the national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, was arrested and detained on Sunday, November 4, 2018 by the Nigerian secret police,
According to insider reports, the State Security Services, SSS, also known as DSS, invited the former Edo governor to its headquarters to answer questions on how he conducted party primaries in the ruling party.
Mr. Oshiomhole was grilled for close to ten hours by operatives of the DSS. He has been accused of collecting bribes from APC state governor and chieftains of the party.
An inside source informed The Trent that the controversial APC national chairman was asked to resign his position at the DSS headquarters.
The APC’s internal crisis has deepened following the conduct of primaries in which candidates emerged on the party’s platform for the 2019 general elections.
The exercise was marred with widespread irregularities, allegations of rigging, favouritism, and disregard for due process. In two states, Zamfara and Rivers, for instance, APC does not have candidates in the upcoming poll because of the internal crisis in the party.
