The flight may have landed, but this suspect was just starting to get high.
A Texas pilot booked himself a direct trip to the hospital when a balloon of smuggled cocaine burst in his stomach, according to authorities.
Stanley Rafael Hill, 49, allegedly ingested 62 small rubber bags of the drug before boarding a Saturday flight from Colombia to Houston, Texas, KPRC reports.
The Dallas-area commercial airline pilot, who was flying as a passenger, was rushed to Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital where he underwent surgery shortly after the plane landed at George Bush Intercontinental Airport, according to CBS Houston.
Hill works for a small regional air carrier and is a father of two, according to NBC DFW. He is charged with felony possession of drugs with intent to deliver.
According to KRPC, it is possible that Hill used his privilege as an airline pilot to bypass the more rigorous routine security check required of regular passengers.
